ROOM 40

Romanian Design Week 2017

Room 40 - one of the most renowned offices in World War I, dedicated to the deciphering of secret war messages. After almost 100 years, it becomes the theme of an interactive exhibit, signed by Assamblage, during Romanian Design Week, dedicated to understanding the process behind contemporary jewelry design. The installation represents a challenge for the viewer to see the jewelry as a vessel of meaning, while also depicting a metaphor for communication, symbols and language in the contemporary design. A selection of 12 Romanian designers have showcased over 40 objects in an unconventional context, allowing the jewelry to reclaim it's statute of an independent form of art and design.

Exhibit organized by Assamblage - National Association of Contemporary Jewelry Authors and Designers x Simplu Maker.Shop, with the support of Holcim, Absolut & FruFru.

Curator: David Sandu.

Exhibit design: architect Ioana Ardelean.
